Polyurethane waterproofing membranes provide long-lasting protection

Water is a potent force. Even the tiniest amount can break down the hardest stone when it freezes in a crack. Man-made structures can also be damaged by water penetration. For long-lasting, seamless protection of all types of substrates, many architects and specifiers turn to liquid polyurethane (PU) waterproofing membranes.

Innovative PU-based systems protect from water penetration

Various waterproofing technologies have been developed to keep water from penetrating into roofs, foundations, restroom floors, walkways, parking decks, containment structures and much more.

Elastic membranes formulated with Desmodur®, Desmophen® and Desmoseal® S polyurethane systems from Covestro protect a wide variety of substrates in a number of different applications.

Liquid membranes have advantages over other types of waterproofing materials, and particularly waterproofing sheets.  They provide seamless coverage that strongly adheres to the substrate, even oddly-shaped surfaces and surfaces with vents and other protruding objects.

Cost-effective, long-lasting PU waterproof coatings can be customized for specific applications. They cure rapidly and are easy to apply by spray, roller, trowel or squeegee. They are tough yet flexible, so they can expand and contract along with normal structural movements.

We offer a range of building blocks for the formulation of one- (1K) and two-component (2K) elastomeric polyurethane and polyurea waterproofing membranes and coatings that provide:

• A strong seamless barrier to water penetration
• Excellent water vapor permeability for the release of moisture
• Excellent crack-bridging properties
• Resistance to weather and UV radiation
• Low volatile organic compound (VOC) content
